Finding Your Family’s Village: Why Community Matters
Finding Your Family’s Village
There’s something about being a parent that makes you realize just how important community really is.
You can have a busy calendar, a house full of toys, and plenty of people on your phone—but sometimes what you really need is someone to say, “Hey, want to meet up and let the kids play?”
We’ve met so many families through Maeve & Rayne who are looking for exactly that.
Some have recently moved to Las Vegas and are trying to find their footing in a new city. Some have lived here for years but are realizing they want to get out more, meet new people, and give their kids opportunities to make friends.
And some simply walked through our doors one day not knowing that they would eventually become part of our village.
That's one of the things we love most about what we're building.
From Our Family: Finding Our Village
When we first started Maeve & Rayne, we knew we wanted to create a place for children to play.
But as we've gotten to know the families who walk through our doors, we've realized it's become so much more than that.
We've gotten to know parents by name. We've heard their stories. We've watched their kids grow, learn, become more confident, and make friendships.
We've celebrated birthdays together. We've watched toddlers become preschoolers. We've seen little ones who were once hesitant slowly come out of their shells.
And our own girls love it, too.
They get so excited when they recognize familiar faces and see friends they've made through the lounge. It's such a sweet reminder that we're not just building a business for families—we're building something with families.
We always joke that when you come to Maeve & Rayne, you have built-in friends and family.
And honestly, we mean it.
Why Finding Your Village Matters
Parenthood can be incredibly isolating.
Especially when you're new to a city, navigating a new stage of parenting, or simply trying to find your people.
Making friends as an adult isn't always easy. Making parent friends can feel even harder.
You might see another mom at the playground and think, “She seems nice. Should I say hi?”
You might bring your child to an activity hoping they'll make a friend, while secretly hoping you'll make one, too.
And sometimes, that's exactly how it starts.
A conversation.
A shared laugh.
Two kids playing together.
A parent saying, “We'll have to do this again.”
Those little moments can eventually become friendships that make a new city feel a little more like home.
Play Is One of the Easiest Ways to Connect
Children have a pretty incredible way of breaking the ice.
They don't necessarily care where someone lives, what they do for work, or how long they've lived in Las Vegas.
They see another child playing and think:
“Want to play?”
That's it.
Play gives children a natural opportunity to practice communication, cooperation, sharing, problem-solving, and friendship.
And while they're playing, parents get an opportunity to connect, too.
That's one of the reasons we love seeing families return to Maeve & Rayne. Over time, familiar faces become friends. Friends become playdate buddies. And sometimes those playdates turn into genuine friendships outside of the lounge.
For the Parents: You Don't Have to Find Your Whole Village at Once
If you're reading this and thinking, “But I don't have a village,” you're not alone.
You don't have to build one overnight.
Start small.
Say hello to another parent.
Join a local playgroup.
Invite someone to meet up again.
Take your child somewhere regularly so you begin seeing the same families.
Let your kids play while you have a conversation.
And don't be afraid to put yourself out there.
Sometimes finding your people requires being a little uncomfortable first.
Your Vegas Village Might Be Closer Than You Think
Las Vegas is constantly growing, and there are families arriving here every day.
Some are starting completely new chapters.
Some are raising their kids here.
Some are simply looking for a reason to leave the house on a Tuesday morning.
And somewhere along the way, they may be looking for the same thing:
Connection.
That's what we hope Maeve & Rayne can provide.
A place where your child can play.
A place where you can meet another parent.
A place where familiar faces start to feel like friends.
A place where your kids can grow up seeing the same little faces, building friendships and making memories together.
From Our Village to Yours
One of the greatest surprises of building Maeve & Rayne has been realizing that our community has become part of our story.
We came in wanting to create a space for our children and other families.
Instead, we've met so many people who have become part of our family.
We know their names.
We know their stories.
We know which kids run straight to certain toys.
We know who has a birthday coming up.
We get to watch them grow.
And we don't take that for granted.
So if you're new to Las Vegas, trying to get out more, looking for friends for your kids—or maybe hoping to find a few friends for yourself—we hope you'll come say hi.
Because around here, we like to think that you've already got a village waiting for you.
And we'd love for you to be part of ours. 💛
Final Thoughts
I think one of the biggest lessons motherhood has taught me is that we really aren't meant to do this alone.
Our kids need friends. We need friends. We need people who understand the chaos, the late nights, the snack negotiations, the birthday parties, the school drop-offs—and who are willing to laugh through it all with us.
Building Maeve & Rayne has given our family something we never expected: a bigger village.
We started this journey wanting to create a place where our girls and other children could play. Somewhere along the way, we've watched that little idea turn into friendships, familiar faces, shared stories, and a community that feels like family.
And that's something I hope every family who walks through our doors feels.
You don't have to know anyone when you walk in. You don't have to have it all figured out. Just come, let the kids play, introduce yourself, and maybe stay for a little while.
Because sometimes, finding your village starts with simply showing up.
And who knows? Your next best friend might be sitting right across the playroom. 💛
♥️ Playfully yours, your mom-friend in fun, Lynne
